Moving To Spain, and the EU, after Brexit: Things you Need to Know

When you are planning to move to Spain, there are a wide range of things that you need to know before you go. Even if you have travelled to Spain on holiday multiple times, moving there is a very different ball game from a two week trip. At Movers International, we have a team of international moving specialists who are on hand to  help you with all your removal requirements as you relocate to Spain.

Due to our regular, weekly runs to the region, we are now proud to announce that we have our own offices in Alicante and Malaga. With so many people in the UK choosing to retire in this area, it makes sense to us and them. Thanks to this expertise and on the ground presence, we are able to help with your international home move for full house removals or just a few items as part of one of our weekly runs.

Another thing to remember when making the international move from the UK to Spain is the fact that although Spain has a national health service provider, in order to be registered you must have a job in Spain, or be paying into the public health scheme privately, or have lived in Spain for more than 5 years. Without meeting one or more of these requirements, you will have to purchase private health insurance.

If you intend to look for employment in Spain, you will, since the UK has officially left the EU,  require a work permit and visa. Before you even apply for a job, you will need a UK criminal records certificate, a Spanish one, a certificate from the Spanish sex offenders’ registry, and a record of any employment history in Spain, each of which is mandatory.

When the time comes that you are moving to Spain, our team of professional international movers can handle all your removal to Spain, including packing all your belongings if you want that option. Our expert packers will ensure that your goods get to your new home in one piece, taking care of your possessions at every stage of the journey.
